Sethu samudram project.....

One of the looong pending, controversial project that never seems to take off...

People for the project tell us that it has the potential to bring us economic gain... shorten the distance the ships have to sail, don't forget the military advantage??? etc....

but...

do we stop to think of the environmental damage that this whole project could bring about?does anyone ascertain whether in constructing the canal there would be any geological, oceanographic and environmental changes, as well as any land subsidence.

Again those who are against the project ( a majority at least from what ive seen) bring up religion to stop the project.
Am at a loss to understand why religion shud ever be a part of it.
Religion again...what good does it do to people except give them a reason to hate... jus realised that any religion cannot survive on its own...needs an enemy ...be it another religion, another race...the list goes on...need to write on this another time....


coming back to the project...its an expensive project that needs constant dredging... and with dubious claims...promoted by politicians with short sight or shud i say with their sights on money...a project that shouldn't be allowed ....

from my visit to the region this is what i have to say....
