the marina

I travel along the marina beach on my way to college.its a nice long strech."full of monuments and statues"-- not something am very fond of. By the look of it one can understand that the government spends a susbstantial amount on beautifying it with not so beautiful results. As one crosses the lighthouse and passes the strech till the foreshore estste one comes across the fishermen dwelling. its a combo of government built flats and huts. what strikes one is the decaying buildings.virtually no paint, crumbling walls are the regualr feature.
The government can spend a little amount on these flats too.but then again, will the people maintain it? I've asked myself this question many times. people blame the government, (i agree the government is inefficient)but the lack of civic sense among the people also is appalling.
This particular strech i talk about stinks and is lawless. there is regular police patrol but that doesnt seem to make any difference. Just the other day as i was coming bak from college, there was a minor accident, not even an accident exactly, but a car had slightly rubbed against an old woman as it was braking and she fell down.this old woman gets up and is walking in no time but the car was sorrounded by about a fifty women who were shaking the car and manhandling the passengers.all this when the cops were just a few metres away.
Just what i see everyday.people getting provoes at the slightest oppurtunity.
